Post miscarriage ovulation weirdness

I had a D&C on June 10th and finally got AF on July 19th. I have been using OPKs throughout our attempt to conceive and on July 5th, exactly 14 days before my July 19th AF start it was positive. So, I thought I was back to a relatively regular cycle (my husband and I decided to take a month off from trying to give me a rest, especially since we were on holiday and abroad).

Following that AF, I started testing using OPKs on July 31st. I did not get a positive test from the 31st to August 5th (17 days after AF) and the strength of the line was varying from light to dark. As I had been traveling and in the air and unable to test until late one of the days, I thought maybe I had just missed the surge. We did BD a couple times during the week but jetlag made us not as diligent as usual.

On Aug 7th I felt what I thought could be ovulation pains on my leftside...(but maybe it was just gas?). We were away for the weekend and I hadn't packed my ovulation tests. We did BD that night and again last night,  Aug 8th. On Aug 8th I was able to get to an OPK and it came out positive, 20 days after AF. Also, on the 8th morning I briefly had the same pain on the leftside and that made me doubt that it was ovulation b/c I couldn't have ovulation pain for 20 hours, could I?

I have almost always been on a 30 day cycle, although a couple x a year it could be 31 or 29 days. During the 8 months we have been trying to conceive (not counting the 2 months I was pregnant), I ovulated on schedule, 15 days after AF. Sorry about the long winded background but here are my questions if anyone can help:

1. Is it possible to miss the surge on an OPK if you test 5-6 hours late?
2. Is it possible that my cycle after always having been regular pre-miscarriage and one month after miscarriage could go so far off as to ovulate almost a week late?
3. Is there anything else that could have caused a positive OPK on August 8th other than I really was ovulating?
4. Could I feel ovulation twinges for almost 24 hours?
5. If I ovulated so late, when should I expect AF? and will this make my luteal phase so short that there is no way I could conceive this month?

Sorry about all the crazy questions! We were looking forward to trying again but this month has me totally confused!

I can only answer #5. Your luteal phase should stay the same, (unless you have a history of short luteal phase.) From CD1 til  ovulation may vary in length from women to women or even in my case cycle to cycle because I have PCOS. But once ovulation occurs your luteal phase should be normal.

I know in the past when I have been anticipating travel/travelling I have ovulated late because of the stress.  In turn it made my AF late as well because the luteal was my normal length.  If you have had positive OPK for more than a few days it is possible you have matured a second egg.  There are many possibilities here, especially 1 month after your miscarriage.
Best of luck and baby dust to you.
