Timing for hcg blood test

I'm 5 weeks pregnant, and bleeding with cramps. My midwife faxed in requisitions for the 48-hour spread blood work. I planned to go tomorrow morning (Friday), then again on Sunday morning. But I just noticed the lab isn't open on Sunday, and Monday is a holiday so it won't be open then either. Can I go Friday & Tuesday, or will the tests be meaningless?

I was planning to go first thing in the morning, at 7am, and I'm not going to page my midwife at such a terrible hour with a question like this...

Thanks Donna - I went for the second blood test today and will let you know. I completely understand what you mean about scans. They're such a mixed bag. But once you are further along in a pregnancy that's going well, I'm sure the happy feeling will come back and it'll be exciting again! Hopefully very soon for you.

I wasnt aware you could get something else rather than a scan. I went for a scan 2 days before and everything was great, saw heartbeat etc then 2 days later i had the bleeding and cramps and there was no heartbeat. Im going to be so scared going for anymore scans in the future and thats meant to be something you look forward to. Keep us updated on hows both are. x

Thank you both.
@Annie - I will try to squeeze it in this morning, but I might not make it. Otherwise I'll go Saturday & Tuesday.

@Donna - I've chosen not to do a scan. I prefer to avoid them - they're so emotional, and often misleading. I've had one that looked good, only to miscarry; and one with bad news, that went on to be a perfectly healthy pregnancy and baby. I'll see what I get from my blood work first.

If you go Friday and Tuesday, there are any number of calculators online that can tell you what your rate of rise is.  You just key in the numbers and then 4 days instead of 2 days.  It's better than going only 24 hours apart.
