which doctor to see?

I had 2 chemical pregnancies in a year. The doctors say low progesterone being the cause. Which specialist shall I see to rectify the problem, Reproductive Endochrinologist or a regular OB/GYN?

I'd run that all by the RE, and see if he or she thinks that is definitively the cause.  I'd see an RE for sure at this point.  Good luck!

thanks for your comment.....actually I start losing the babies even before finding out I am pregnant.....how do I treat it? Shall I start on progesterone every month right after ovulation? Will not that mess up my cycle? Please give me an idea about the odds if you know

It can be depending on your insurance, etc.  I did have mine tested through an OB, most are pretty good, but Annie is correct, an RE is a step above.  Good luck to you, I know this is hard.  An OB or RE can prescribe progesterone supplements which are usually started as soon as you find out you are pregnant.

Is seeing an RE more expensive than a regular OB/GYN?

Both times I had very early miscarriage. I start bleeding even before getting a positive. Immediate blood test revealed extremely low progesterone. Also, my BBT is always in the lower range. It doesn't increase much even after ovulation. Hence the suspicion that its the low progesterone that's causing the chemicals.

How do the doctors know that low progesterone was the cause?  (In other words, if a pregnancy is failing, the progesterone would naturally be pretty low.  They did some kind of test and determined that for sure the reason for the failure was low progesterone?)

Anyway, after two chemical pregnancies, I would at least consult with an RE.
