Another question about cooling vests, etc.

Hi, folks. I know I'll need some kind of cooling products to deal with the fast-coming summer, and I've done some casual i-looking. Someone suggested Steele Vests, but these are really pricey.

What I need are things to keep me comfortable for relatively short periods of time, an hour or less, maybe only 30 minutes or so. On the whole. I'm thinking vest, neck wrap, and maybe hat.

Can anyone suggest a source where I can find what I need but not more than I need? And not outrageously expensive?

Many thanks,
ess

Hi, Ess,

Yes, I'm getting Steele Vests because that's how badly I want to stay out of the ER this summer - desperately!!  I wanted the most powerful things around!  MSAA uses Steele. In their ad, Steele says their vests offer "30% more cooling power than any other passive cooling vest."  You can buy just the vest which is cheaper than getting the whole package.

Anyway, if I remember right, I read that you don't qualify for the free cooling vest program run by MSAA - right?  If that's wrong, you might check with them about getting a free vest package.

Here are two other cheaper cooling vest companies:
1.  "Polar Products" at: www.polarproducts.com (1-800-763-8423)
2.  "StaCool Vest" at stacoolvest.com (1-866-782-2665)

Wishing you a C-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-L summer!!

Hugs!

Unfortunately these are expensive too:

They make some neck coolers that are filled with crystals that turn into gel when they're soaked in water.  Wrap the thing around your neck and it'll drop your temp by a couple of degrees.  I've tried them in the Hill Country, and they work pretty good - but you have to keep them in the ice chest so they'll stay cold.
