Is there any danger if someone takes 40mg Copaxone 3 x week but it later turns out they really don't have MS afterall? Just wondering how dangerous--thanks.
I'm with Alex absolutely. If you have just been diagnosed with MS you often feel there's been a mistake & the doc will say something like "Oops sorry you don't have MS as after all." I know I had lots of mind games going on at first & I am still in the first year of diagnosis.
I have heard of people being told they have MS but then they are told it was something else & I think there is always a possibility of receiving an incorrect dx as MS can mimic many things on MRI especially. If you are really concerned I would seek a second opinion.
As Alex has said sometimes people who have had only a single attack of MS which is called CIS will commence a DMD. There is a chance that it may remain a single attack & never return but there's is also the chance it will come back again. By commencing a DMD like Copaxone you are giving yourself a much better chance.
The DMD's come with side effect but as long as you are monitored with your blood work I don't see it causing you harm. I can see it benefitting you greatly if you do have MS though. :-)
It would not cause any real harm. Why are you thinking you do not have MS? If you are new to MS it is normal to think you don't really have it. If they have you on Copaxone they think you have MS or Clinically Isolated Syndrome.
In this special Missouri Medicine report, doctors examine advances in diagnosis and treatment of this devastating and costly neurodegenerative disease.

I hope this helps you a little.
