Back from Seattle

Hi, everyone, just wanted to let you know that you all stay in my thoughts even when I'm out of town.  You just pop up in my thoughts and I wonder how you're doing, or think of something funny to tell someone.  It's really cool to have an online bunch of friends/family, you know?

The train ride up was pleasant; watched the movie Leatherheads, which I never would have picked on my own, but was an enjoyable diversion.  I got had two nights with lots of good solid sleep, but was still tired.  We went shopping on Thursday, and I had a sudden need to sit down before I fell down.  Luckily, my roommate was trying on clothes at Nordstrom, so rested on a comfortable chair, then we went and ate salads and drank cold water.  Gave me enough energy to get back to the room.

Thursday night was the WNBA game, and our team won, which was cool, though the other team played so poorly it was a slightly hollow victory.

Friday morning, while getting ready to go out for breakfast, I went to sit on the bed, lost my balance, and banged my ankle so hard on a support under the box springs that my roommate said it sounded like something broke.  She dug out the Arnica ointment, which I slathered on, then went and had breakfast a couple of blocks away.

This is my right ankle.  My right foot is the one that already hurts from the lumbar radiculopathy, especially the big toe.  Soon, my whole foot was aching, and pain was radiating up my calf.  Went back to room and iced the ankle, and from the limping I did, ended up icing my lower back and my knee.  Oy!  I'll keep putting the Arnica and ice on today, and will be gentle with it when I go to watch a soccer match tonight.

I see my PCP on Tuesday, so if it is still bothering me, she can decide if I need an X-ray.

Aside from that, it was a good trip!  :o)  I ate some great healthy food, a slice of really good pizza, and a few treats.  For those of you (like me) that don't consume alcohol, don't like it, always check the list of ingredients if you order something like Black Forest Cake at a place that isn't a family restaurant.  I shared a piece with my roomie, and it had some chery/port wine sauce that was nasty.  I only had a few bites, but the taste stayed with me, yuck!

I had to go to See's and get a sample to get the taste out of my mouth!  :o)

It's good to be home.  Fluffy was glad to see me, and is staying pretty close.

Hugs to all,

Kathy

Sounds like a successful trip!  Couple of bumps in the road, but that makes it more memorable.

My choice  not to drink and other changes I made are based on hopes of promoting health as opposed to being moral in origin, but I'm surprised at how I still get upset if something on my "no" list ends up on my plate!  I ordered a veggie entree at one place and it came with rice cooked in chicken stock.  I didn't think it would bug me, but it did!

Too bad there was not a chocolate store near by, that does sound like a great solution!

Good luck at your PCP tomorrow.  Hopefully there is no need for an X-ray.

Do you really want us to feel sorry for you that you had to go to See's for the cure?  LOL I love their chocolate too.

I'm glad to hear you had an enjoyable time on your trip.

Welcome back!
Overall, it seemed it was fun! I don't drink either and it bothers me when something i ordered has some "wine sauce" or something like that. Yuck!
Shopping can be serious business for people like us. I just got back from a trip to the mall with my mom (shopaholic anonymous calling her!) and i endured the whole thing without my cane, but i kept on yanking on her arm so she would wait on me. And she's 60!! well, she looks about 47.. i hope i get her same good genes!
It's good to have you back! Fluffy must be so happy his mommy is back! he is an adorable little devil.
Hope the ankle heals ok, i got that arnica ointment and it never worked for me. I gave it to my brother, who's a Type 1 Diabetic and he bruises almost every time he gets his shot, so he loves it. Too bad for me, because only the "old people smelling" ointment are the only ones that work for me. Hey, at least they work!
Big hugs!
Farrah
