Chest pressure, questions.

I'm not sur what's up with this, and wondering if you guys have any thoughts.

The night before last, I had an "incident" where I had this pressure in my chest and under my ribs (front and sides). It actually caused a mass of fear and I thought I was going to die. It lasted about an hour, then backed off. Yesterday I just had a mild pressure feeling in the ribs, nothing extraordinary, or alarming, just a sensation, no big deal. After a few hours, it seemed to back off, and all was fine.

Today I had another "incident" with a TON of pressure. I felt like my internal organs, just around the bottom fo the ribs, were being squished together. It was actually really painful. Thankfully it only lasted 20 minutes or so. I felt like I couldn't get a good breath in, even though I could (this is something that's been common in both my "incidents"). Slow deep breathing, and the pain actually kept me from having fear this time around.

I can't get in to see my g.p until probably sometime next week (If I'm lucky). She's only in 3 mornings a week, and I have to try and fit that around her already booked appointments, and my husband's work schedule (I don't drive). I'm seeing a new neurologist tomorrow, and wondering if I should mention it to her. Not because I think it's neurological (although who knows), but because she's a doctor, and she can refer me to whomever else, if need be.

I don't know. I just know that I think I should be seen by someone about this. It's kind of freaky.

Any thoughts? Input?

Thanks

Chris

It's over now, so I likely won't go to the ER, unless it happens again, then it's possible. The first time was very scarey, and a little different. I considered the ER, but that would have involved waking up the kids, seeing if we could find someone to watch them at midnight, then spending hours in the ER waiting to be seen (last time I was there was for a colon infection, and it took 7 hours to be seen).

I'm not frightened now, just perplexed. However, that being said, it's certainly something that I'll be keeping an eye on. I don't assume it's connected with everything else. I try not to do that.

My thought was the same as Wanna, I can mention it to the neuro, if for no other reason than she's a doctor. It needs to be mentioned to someone though, for sure.

Blah, more specialists, more tests. ARG! I'm tired of "ologists" but not so tired that I'm willing to put my life on the line. It just gets exhausting after a while.

As you all know, I'm sure.

Thanks for the input.

Oh. PS, I should specify that the second time, it was lower than the chest. The pressure/pain was actually around where the bottom ribs are. I do still have some discomfort, but it's like yesterday, where it's just an annoyance, not anything causing fear or pain.

I wouldn't fool around with this kind of symptom.  I would go to the nearest "Urgent Care Center" or ER.  Chest pressure should never be ignored, no matter what age or what sex.  Never assume it's problems with indigestion, MS hug or the like.  Better to be safe than sorry.  It anything you will come home and realize that it's something benign and harmless.  I would rather know that, then sit there and wonder and be frightened.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Yes mention this to the neurologist, if fo no other reason than she's a doctor.

Do you think it is bad enough to go the the ER?
