Do neurological problems run in families?

My sister just informed me that my cousin, who is a few years older than I, has just had surgery for hydrocephalus.  Her symptoms included foot drop and a lot of pain over some years which until recently, had been attributed to back problems.  She even had back surgery which did not help anything. I don't know what tests she has had, but I know she has been struggling with problems for years.  Hope they got it right this time.

There truly are no coincidences! When in for my neuro appt., I picked up a copy of the Neurology Now (free) Magazine. They had an article about Hyrocephalus! I just skimmed it really fast, but didn't see anything there about familial tendencies. However, there were resources listed and I am passing them on to you:
