Is this the MS Shudder/Shake?

Late last night it felt like my muscles in the torso area were just shaking.  My arms and legs also were shakey and my hands were very shaky.  I felt weak from it as well.  It frightened me at first as I thought I was having a crisis of some type.

It started today late afternoon.  I thought I hadn't eaten enough protein so I ate yogurt and cheese along with some pasta.  It seems worse when I try to do the dishes or a task like that and I feel very weak.  My arms felt plastered to my sides.

I seem to remember hearing something about this but couldn't find a good explanation when I searched.

Do any of you know what this is?

Thanks,    Red

I don't want to scare you unnecessarily, but if it happens again, you should call 911.

I hate to say that - I'm the same way.  Don't want to be a bother, don't want to cause needless fuss...  but I was just treated for a blood clot which turned into a pulmonary embolism.  If I had gone immediately to the doctor instead of thinking it was just the MS, then maybe I wouldn't have ended up with the PE.

OK,  Yesterday was good and today with a short one that only lasted a few minutes.  It's a very strange thing isn't it?  That's why it's hard to remember---it's so fleeting.
Did you have it where it was fleeting like that?  Like it only lasted for a few minutes or was yours longer?

Today, suddenly it was a combination of horrible feeling right before a projectile vomit (sorry), with sudden weakness (beyond what I have daily), with feeling I will pass out, and a strange feeling in my chest.  Does that sound like what you had? I just keep thinking that mine is OK.    But I promise I will tell tomorrow----with a paper in my lap.

((((Hugs))))

write it down, now.  So you can remember- I have to write down all those notes before I see the doctor and even then we don't cover everything because I get distracted.

Are you still having the violent shakes?

take care, take notes!

Thank you for being assertive with this, I am the type of person that denies anything is wrong until it stands up and yells at me.  I did phone my PCP and have an appointment on the 6th which is too far away I think.

I thought my nurse was coming on Monday but the schedule changed.  I promise I will tell her tomorrow.  I may even write it out on a piece of paper and have it in front ot me so I don't 'forget'.

Hugs

Red,
Can the visiting nurses do a blood culture while they are there?  Be sure and ask them to come prepared if possible.  I would feel a lot better if I knew you had been checked.

Over the months I kept ignoring Quix's little voice in the back of my brain saying "get a cbc when you have a UTI."  She has said that more than once around here and I assume the same would go for other possible infections.

I didn't know I had a fever either until the rigors hit. All the drugs I am on were trying to keep it at bay, but eventualy the cooties won out.  I hope that's not what is going on with you but its better to be safe now than sorry later.

hugs, L

The last bladder infection I had, I had no fever that I was aware of.  When I took my temperature in the day, it was normal; however, I did have a lot of sweating at night.  Apparently is pretty bad, according to my doctor (lots of blood and other indicators).

The strange thing is that I don't have a fever.  I do feel hot at night and wake up with my pajamas wet, but I do that alot anyway.

I think I am going to call the visiting nurses tomorrow to come and see me, then they can look at me, take vitals and help with the decision.  They can even help transport me.  I feel fine this morning.

I am going to lay off the sugar and see if it happens again today.  I promise to do something about it tomorrow, hopefully it was from my diet or something.

I just re-read Lu's post about the coming and going.  I am definately calling my nurse to make sure she is coming tomorrow!!

What clues me in that this is different  than the MS is that it is affecting all of your limbs and not just a few select spots.  That would require all sorts of symetrical damage to your central nervous system for all four limbs to go wonky at once. And that really just doesn't happen, from what I know.

Red, you really should be seen sooner rather than later if you have an infection already raging, but that is a call you have to make.  Speaking of call, could you call your doctor yet tonight (through her service) and get her advice?  Honestly though, she will probably tell you to go to the ER.

Whatever you do, don't put it off any later than Monday.  Please.

hugs, Lu

It's not clear whether Red should be going to the ER for this, given that it is the weekend, or wait until Monday.

We all want what's best for Red right now and I did not like reading "swollen Parotid glands, the swelling never left.   The one on the right is swollen to the point that it has gone around the back of my ear.  it gets a bit bigger each day---IT'S HOT (emphasis added) but I ignored it."

Red, do you have any fever?

LuLu, anyone, clarification???? Should Red be seen now or can she wait until Monday?

Red, we're rooting for you!

Audrey

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red,

Listen to Lulu and get checked out. You said you are giving up on doctors but you said you had a good PCP so make an appointment and see what is going on. I would hate to see you end up in the hospital.

Take Care of yourself,
Paula

RED - THIS IS IN CAPS SO YOU KNOW I AM DEADLY SERIOUS HERE....
WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING THROUGH THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS.

RIGORS - A SYMPTOM OF AN INFECTION THAT IS TRYING TO TAKE OVER YOUR BODY.  IN MY CASE, IT WAS E-COLI IN MY BLOOD THANKS TO THE UTI BACKING UP INTO MY KIDNEYS AND GOING FOR A SWIM IN MY BLOOD STREAM

DO NOT IGNORE THIS PROBLEM - GET TO THE DOCTOR/ER AND ASK FOR A BLOOD CULTURE.

IT CAME AND WENT WITH ME TOO - BUT IS NOT TO BE PLAYED WITH.

WHEN YOU WROTE CORE I IMMEDIATELY THINK THIS IS WHAT IT IS.

HUGS, L

PS I never scream in CAPS here, but I have to on this one... especially since your instinct is screaming at you that something is very wrong.  I though I should scream at you too!!!

Hey Red,

I think you might be describing postural tremor, a tremor present when the limbs or trunk are kept in certain positions. The health pages also have a bit on tremors that are worth looking at.

Cheers........JJ
