metallic tase in mouth

just wondering if any other ms patients here ever experience a metallic taste in your mouth. the only other time i have ever experienced this is when I received steroids. I have been off steroids for 5 months now. this started about a week ago and it is just awful. nothing taste right and it's very annoying. I'm not on any new drugs so I don't believe it is a side effect of anything.
just wondering if anyone else has has this as a symptom.
thanks for your time.

I had that weird metallic taste for a few weeks several years back, before I even thought I had MS. Yet it definitely was the first symptom of a new flare. I remember not being able to tell whether the Christmas roast beef was any good, and that was sure irritating!

I just came off of a round of steroids and I have that taste too. I have been off of the steroids for about 2 weeks and it is finally fadeing. I kept buying new toothbrushes because I thout that I was not getting my teeth  clean enough.

April,

Hi. I get that nasty metallic taste in my mouth also. I asked my doctors and they said that it was because of my Sjogren's. I didn't believe that because I get it when my other Sjogren symptoms are totally under control so I asked the dentist and he said it is because I grind my teeth when I am stressed.

I don't know if you have Sjogren's or the naughty habit of teeth grinding but I know that the dentist is onto something ( for me a least ) because it's kind of like the taste of fillings.

Good luck
Erin :)

April,
I vaguely remember a discussion about this a while back - hopefully those folks who have this symptom can give you some answers.

I take lunesta at night to sleep sometimes and it definitely makes everything taste metallic the next day, but at least I know an explanation as to why.
