Is this optic neuritis?

I have had terrible eye pain went to see opthamologist and she did an OCT scan.  It showed that I had 3 places of thinning in both my eyes and told me it looked like it was inflammed.  So she put me on eye drops renstasis (sp?).  And just says that I have dry eyes.  I went back again and they said it was better but dx me as "dry" eyes.  Had another round bout of it and went back and she said it was still dry eyes.  I told her I can't tell the difference in my colors.  Red looks like orange or a pretty pink, dark blue looks purple, black looks brown but she still insists that I don't have optic neuritis.  Mt vision in my left eye keeps getting worse, it has changed in just a couple months time.  I can't wear my glasses as I can't see with them.   Words go into a big pile, smear on the page and etc. The pain is almost more than I can stand at times.  HELP!!

I agree. Get a second opinion. All I would say is that a decent opthalmologist will definitely be able to tell you if you have got ON because they can see a problem with the pupils when they do the light test. I think the pain would have subsided by now if it were ON because any pain usually goes once the vision loss begins. I guess very dry eyes could cause problems with colour vision so perhaps that really is the problem here but if so, they should at least give you some pain relief. Good luck!

I would definitely seek out a second opinion, preferably from a neuro-ophthalmologist if you have access to one.   Pain as bad as you describe should not have to be endured and should expedite the process of getting to the cause of it.
