So great to hear all the fun things people are doing, the important things they are doing to manage their MS, and the celebrating! Sorry to hear about those going through difficult times. It is so hard that there is struggle!
This has been a rough week for my family, my wonderful Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer..we find out what stage it is after next Tuesday. Would be lovely if you could say a prayer for him and my family, such terribly devastating news.

A reasonably quiet week for me. A PT appointment, blood test for my DMD and a telephone screening for a new Peer Support Program being started by the MS Society here in Canada.
I enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving dinner with family over the weekend and am pleased to say that about a month ago I quit smoking. Yay!!
Now I just need to get used to my new med for overactive bladder. :)

Hi,
Wow! A lot of different things people are up to then.
I've just come home from my first neurophysiotherapy, hopefully my legs will be bending again in no time!
I can get back to walking and cycling as I used to aswell.
Hope all have a lovely week.

Today I have my MS support group, so looking forward to that.
Yesterday I had my tysabri infusion which wore me out. It hasn't done that in awhile but am so thankful to have it.
On monday I had thanksgiving with my parents and brother. We usually get the family together bbut things are a little crazy right now.
My cousin's fiance's mother fell down the stairs and snapped her neck. He doesn't have an involved father, so was really close to her. My nana was is 94 has been sick, and my other cousin has anorexia/bulimia and just fell into a mirror shattering it. So hence to say we didn't all get together.
Have a good week everyone and I think all of your accomplishments are amazing!
All the best,
Barb
I played rugby in college. I had to give it up though. It had nothing to do with MS. I was overtaken by sanity and sobriety :-)

That's wonderful that you helped out. Fostering children is one of the most laudable things I can think of, and I know the help was appreciated!
Don't think we weren't glued to Ireland/France over here in Dublin on the weekend! We were down our top two players and still pulled it off. I doubt it will happen with Australia or the All Blacks, but on the day it felt very, very sweet.
So great you'll be watching a match in person! Glad you had the godadults there (heehee) to spend time with.
Ahhh wonderful posts of events here. I volunteered to help someone who fosters children this weekend. And to confirmedrachel...... RUGBY players are bassass in my humble opinion. True hard core athletes ....
;)
Ooh lots of nice things taking place by you all.
I had two lots of godchildren (not children now!) to stay, first with his wife on the Fri, then one of his sisters/boyfriend on the Sat. Lots of food, drinks and chats - plus lots of rugby! A little sad to miss out on the 30 mile bike ride on Sunday morning, I think that'll be an aim to get back up to if I work on it.
Loving the Rugby World Cup on in England just now especially with my Aussie boys through to the quarter finals this weekend. My husband came home with a surprise two tickets to Twickenham Stadium (home of rugby in England) to see Australia vs Scotland on Sunday
A bit of a wet blanket here--suffering thru another bout of TN, with oral steroids this time. My 4th go of steroids since 2013, yet my neuro thinks all is fine. Boo. On the other hand, I've been cleaning out cabinets like mad, while usually I have energy only for the basics, so I guess there's my silver lining.
Also, I'm in a new PT thing involving electrical stimulation. I'm skeptical yet willing. I did do great on the 'endurance walk' test, about the farthest ever in a timed 6 minutes. One scary test--Had to stand on a slightly bouncy cushion, feet together, fingers touching thighs, eyes closed. I fell right over. Now maybe they get my feeling of walking in a bobbing boat. Vestibular issues galore.
Enjoy the fall, those of you in the Northern Hem. For the others, enjoy the spring!

Kyle - Niagara on the Lake is BEAUTIFUL! Especially at this time of year. Enjoy the trip. I just visited with a bunch of high school pals in BC and it's wonderful how the years melt away.
Celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday with friends who are like family. Ate way too much. Suffering a food handover this morning lol. Back into our regular routine this week after a two week road trip to the west coast (Vancouver, Victoria). A friend and I had started walking our dogs together a couple times a week, so I'll resume that. My dog needs more canine socialization and I need the exercise. I can walk only 2km pretty well and then my right leg starts dragging and I stumble a lot and trip over my feet. Disheartening is the right word for it, Kyle. I have physio this week to address my shoulder bursitis and my knee, ankle and toes which I injured nearly three months ago from a fall down the stairs. The last session helped tremendously to loosen things up but I can feel them stiffening up again, especially my knee.
Have a good week everyone and happy birthday, immisceo!
I ate a big fat funnel cake at the county fair yesterday :)
I got a taste of that sensation too. The older people, the kids... the dogs. They all beat me to the top. I could feel my legs get really heavy. My personal cut-off point wasn't when my pride took the hit, but when/if I thought I might legitimately put anyone in danger. But I never actually fell over or slid, so I just put one foot in front of the other, literally and figuratively, until I did it. So much of the mental stuff that we negotiate with ourselves is done purely internally. I had to kind of explain it to my husband when we got down.
We're all like swans - perhaps not a lot of movement for others to see, but there's a lot going on beneath the surface.
I hope you have a fantastic time over the weekend. Don't let the thoughts boss you around. We can be realistic and pragmatic while looking out for our moods. Visiting with an old friend might be just the thing!
Aspen, Thanks! It's funny - we don't really celebrate birthdays as such, but it's a great excuse to do something a little out of the ordinary or out of my comfort zone. Mission accomplished! Happy to report, no soreness today!
I hope your appointment goes well. Be sure to let us know!
Happy monday.
Immi- congrats on your climb and happy birthday.
Aspen-keep us posted on your visit. I know naturopathic works for many with other conditions.
Kyle- walking a mile may now be a challenge, but your bike riding accomplishments are something to be proud of.
This week I leave to go to my home in Florida (early snow bird) to start hippotherapy. I loved horses when I was younger. Let's hope it helps with my gait.
I tried to walk the Walkway over the Hudson (river) yesterday. It's 1.28 miles and I couldn't get to the other side. It's disheartening to realize I can't walk a mile anymore. It's also disheartening to be contemplating the purchase of a Rollator.
On a fun note, I'm going to Niagra on the Lake, Canada this weekend to see HS friends I haven't seen in 37 years :-)
Kyle
Ohhhh I love ... used to anyway ... climbing! So fun! Good for you.
I'm am seeing a naturopathic doctor tomorrow. Never thought I'd say that, and I'm sceptical. But unending limbo and crazy weight times for next neuro lead to desperate measures. Wel'll see. Since I've had deficiencies in some minerals, and the regular medical community doesn't do a whole lot in this area, this is one thing I'm hoping they will investigate.
Happy almost-birthday!!
