Prickling sensation , twitching at night , electric current , popping and burning -all over the body - HELP!
I get these prickling sensation all over the body ( even in my private parts ) .They are not painful , just strange. They come and go ( started about 5 years ago ) then stop for some time and come back. I also experience small "electric like current " again not  painful. Sometimes it' s small "popping " feels like popping popcorn ( or that's what comes to my mind )  you can't see it  on my skin i just feel it internally. Sometimes I feel a  burning sensation but it also comes and goes - no pain just annoying. I twitch quite a bit ,before i fall asleep ,or when I am completely rested in bed - my finger, my arm , my head . Once my nose twitched, my lip jumped . Mostly it is my foot. WHen the foot jerks it is quite painful . It happned a lot when i was pregnant , but I taking Magnisum  supplements and it seems to have reduced the jerking quite a bit. But now I am totally freaking out  because of these prickling and "electric current" like sensation - they are back. I am so SCARED. I have been, for the past 8 years,  worried that I will get MS. Don't really know why. No one in my family has it . My grandparents lived to be 90 plus ...BUT I do know that MS is random -it doesn't matter what your family history is .  You don't inherit it so when my family gives me this argument  it doesn't help. I know I am making myself even sicker by thinking about it  but I am so scared and lost. I have been to 2 neurologist and they all said it is from stress. I have NO stress . Other then this I have a GREAT life . I have been prescribed Valium  - I don't want Valium. I want answers and I want it to stop...at least to find out what is causing it.  PLEASE if someone has experienced, prickling, twitching, e " electric current Like " and popping... PLEASE ; PLEASE respond.... I am so scared
P.S: Other then that i am healthy , fit 45 year old female. I also will go and see another neurologist and will ask for an MRI
For those that have MS - I don't want to offend anyone with my Blunt or may be insensitive questions - i am just so scared.

I understand... There is nothing worse than when you know there is something wrong with your body and you can't get anyone to believe you... I agree you should see another doctor... Your symptoms could be so many different things that I don't really think you should automatically assume it's MS... There are a lot of things that can cause your symptoms...

When you go to your doctor do you tell them that you think you have MS?  If you do then don't do it the next time... Let the doctor do his thing... The one thing they really hate is when we go in there and tell them I want this test, that test, and I want them yesterday...lol... I'm not saying you do this but just in case...

If you will look in the health pages (top right hand corner) there is a place that talks about what to do when going to your doctor... Like questions to ask and stuff like that... I wish you the best and please keep us posted on how your doing...

I'll be praying,
Carol

Hi there, I have MS. I am not offended by your question. I am curious as to why you would go right to MS as a diagnoses. Do you know people with MS who have similar symptoms? In any event, I would see another doctor and do not tell them what you suspect, just tell them your symptoms and let them go from there. In my opinion, it sounds like you may have a disc pressing on a nerve perhaps causing the twitching. Have you had an MRI of your entire spine? Pinched nerves can cause the same symptoms. Of course you would have to have impacted discs in multiple places since different parts of your body are impacted. I am sorry you are going through this. I hope you get the answers you need soon. I am in the same situation.. My symptoms are different but looking for answers for over a year on a problem, had many tests come back negative. It's very hard when you know something is wrong and you can't put a name on it.. With a name comes the possibility of a cure of treatment that is effective.. Hang in there..
