Those videos played fine for me. They were pretty informative, even if the acting was somewhat less than stellar. I'm sure the guy speaking was a real neurologist, and the "patient" he was examining was likely a student. Not the world's most exciting programming, but quite adequate.
I watched some of them several days ago, I think. I'll go back and check to see if I can get them tonight.
XP and I use avira antivir. I have not had a problem playing anything else. Have you watched the videos? I was wondering if the page had exhausted and the plug in was missing????
That is strange, and undoubtedly aggravating. Sounds like there might be a security setting in either your browser or your firewall, or if you have an internet security suite installed (as we all should) such as Norton or McAfee, somewhere in there. What is your operating system (i.e., Mac, XP, Vista, etc.)?
Lu I tried. I downloaded real player. It still pops up plug in needed. But when I tell it to install it says no suitable plug in found. So go figure.
terry
terry (saveone),
did you get the popup installed and the site to run for you?
Lu
Yes, it is important that our doctors do enough of a detailed exam to know if we are losing ground or not. The MRI can't show if the weakness is increasing or the sight decreasing.
If you are not diagnosed, you should know what a truly good neuro exam looks like. They may not do EVERY test - like every kind of sensation, but all of those areas should be tested.
An example - at every recheck my neuro checks 18 muscle groups on each side! That is 36 separate muscle strength checks. He goes back and looks at all his prior notes and can tell me where I have lost a little ground or if my exam is really unchanged.
A spit and polish exam is NOT good enough!
Quix
terry,
It pops up on my computer on the realplayer that was already installed. Do you have realplayer? You can download the player for free at real.com
I hope that helps.
Lulu
Lu I tried the site but it said I needed to install plug ins to view. I told it to install and it said it could not locate available plug ins. Do you know which one is needed to view the videos?
This site through Temple University has
videos of each part of the exam. They are one the far right side of the menu bar from this page http://isc.temple.edu/neuroanatomy/lab/lesions/index.htm
you go! I had a joke of an exam too. Just glad I knew what a real one was supposed to be like, uh like you should do a person's reflexes..... snotty today huh?
Anyway, great idea to post that info rendean and saveone, hope someday I will be a good source of info too.
Thanks
Tracy
Great site. I also found one called "NeuroLogical Exam", Yes the L is uppercase, from site from Utah's med libray. Just google NeuroLogical Exam and read the site source.
