Tuesday update on DJ :-)
I heard from DJ tonight - surprised the heck out of me. She called me and sounds pretty good, all things considered. She is having some mental lapses, and she understands that is part of the healing process that she has to go through.
She is now in her own private room and out of ICU. The verdict is it was the pump surgery that gave her a bacterial infection in her spine, The infection spread to her brain. She also has pneumonia lingering in both lungs. As she said, they are treating her with a VERY broad spectrum of antibiotics.
We actually joked about how she must be a cat, because of all the lives she has. She sounded wonderful.
The plans for the move to PA are continuing. Her apartment is ready and waiting for her. Her phone and utilities are turned on. The care flight will be put on the schedule tomorrow - supposedly it takes ten days to get it done, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pull it off sooner.
To say this is amazing would be an understatement.
And to Karen - she LOVED the card and asked that I pass on her thanks. It really meant a lot to her and everyone's well wishes touched her.
She asked me to relay her thanks to everyone for the prayers and the wishes. She had her computer brought in but unfortunately her vision and her scattered brain right now are not allowing her to focus. She says she will be back on here to give her own thanks as soon as possible.

The world is turning so much for DJ that it's revolting. My thoughts are with her daily and sending gentle hugs and wishes on all the breezes right back to her.

keep working it folks - DJ has to have her pump removed because of the abcess. The surgery will be tomorrow or Sunday from what I know.
here is today's medical turn .......
DJ has an abcess in her abdomen where the morphine pump is fixed into the spine. This is not good news. She was told she will be in at least over the weekend. They may have to remove the pump. This just keeps twisting and turning about every day.

Great news!!! Thank you Laura, it is wonderful that you've kept all of us up to date on DJ, we all love her and knowing what's going on is a huge relief.

Our DJ is a gem, a very valuable gem. And, I think she actually has more than 9 lives, so she is better than the average cat. I can't wait to hear that she is on the mend, at her new place in PA and doing great. Hopefully that day will come soon.

What???!! I had no idea...have been away and obviously have fallen way behind in my reading. So sorry to hear about all of this but it sounds like DJ is on the road to recovery. What a strong woman she is. Thanks Lu for keeping us apprised.
I am so happy to find this message and to hear, DJ, that you're doing better! Oh, how that lifts my spirits to hear that!
