Hi. I'm a 40 year old female and am having some weird eye symptoms and I'm wondering if any of it sounds like it could be MS.
A year ago I began having flashing lights in my peripheral vision. I had it checked out and the doc said it was due to an eye aging process and my retinas were fine. A couple months later I had a lot of floaters so I went back. All was still fine, but they ran a field vision test and did a retina scan. All good (except the floaters which still drive me nuts.)
Since then I've gone back several times for a variety of weird symptoms. If I move my eyes rapidly, I see flashing lights. If I stare straight forward and not move my eyes and then move my head up and down I see dark pressure spots, like when you rub your eyes.
Now and then I see gray spots in my vision that flash when I blink. Much like when you get your picture taken and you see the flash afterwards. They last for about a minute or so. Sometimes I see flickering in my peripheral vision. And the weirdest symptom is after images. For months now I see after images of dark things against light backgrounds. Lights are also burning into my vision faster than normal. The after images have been constant.
I had an eye exam yesterday for the after image problem and the doctor ordered more tests next week. She also asked if I have other symptoms, like numbness. I can't say that I've have at this point. My PCP ordered a brain MRI and it came back normal.
Does ANY of this sound like it might be MS? I'm going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with me. No one can find anything wrong, but SOMETHING is wrong. I'm hoping next week's tests can shed some light on my problem.
I appreciate any feedback. Thanks! :-)
