I had pain and weakness in my hands before my neuro symptoms began kicking in. My hands have atrophied at this point.
The pain I have began slowly at first, then one day it seemed to blossom and grew with great intensity. I take Neurontin, Baclofen and sometimes Zanaflex, and Vicodin I also have Tramadol available. I also do progressive muscle relaxation and stretching exercises.
my pain can manifest differently, it can be:
a deep feeling of burning and being twisted
a feeling of being squeezed like I am in a vice
this past week it felt like I went to the gym and worked out for 10 hours and every muscle in my body is sore. It's like someone hit me with a truck

take care, Red
I have had severe migraines for years 3-4 a week. Achy neck pain too. And like Bob, I had tingling, burning, aching down my right arm, that I thought was related to a cervical herniation.
I have aching, like a bad toothache, in my left leg at night, it wakes me up....it is terrible, but thank God it is not every night. I take neurontin and zanaflex. I also get a grabbing cramp in my right calf, I think it is spasticity....but it isn't real painful, but makes me walk a little funny.
I had pain and burning on my left arm for three years that I thought was due to a couple of shoulder surgeries back in 1987 and 1988. The Ortho docs had just done an EMG and informed me that the pain was not due to nerve damage in my arm, when I lost vision in my right eye a few days later. It was an optometrist in Denver that said I needed to see a neuro-ophthalmologist to make sure that the pain and suspected optic neuritis were not related to the same under lying disease process like MS. I think that was a pretty smart optometrist.
An MRI, VEP, an LP and another MRI over the next 9 months led to a diagnosis of RRMS.
