constipation, one more time

Although I have always had a problem with  constipation, with some help, I was fairly regular.  All of a sudden it seems I have no urge to go....its not that I need to and can't, its just that i dont feel I need to.

But I know when I should feel like it...a few days is way too long.  Just in time for my trip seriouslyo I am on a mission today, i will go or I will not and with everything I have put in my body, i should !

Seriously, what could be happening ?

hugs, meg

Technical question re: constipation.

Is there a good position or bad position to assume on the throne when one is trying to evacuate one's bowels?

And, no, I am not trying to be funny with this one. I'm sure many of you have heard as the bathroom referred to as the "reading room". For me, it is just that, especially when I have to make multiple trips to the bathroom to "get it all out".

Are we supposed to be sitting straight on the throne or does bending over help?

I read the newspaper, which I put on the floor and bend over to read it. Am I helping or hurting myself?

Jeez, can't believe that I am actually posting this.

Blush,

Audrey

plagued with it myself since first weirdo bowel problems started when CSF was infected 24 years ago.

cannot plan around it as it has a mind of its own and my intestines are usually in a bad mood, unless i go.

a nice lady at my MS support group suggested this and it helps me a bit:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

boil some barley seeds down. like 3 tbls of seeds per 4 coups of water. boil it til half the water is gone. drink a cup of the liquid a day and the cooked seeds i put a few big spoonfuls in with my morning oatmeal and berries.

the barley tea helps with some joint pains and is a natural diuretic - i think that is what she said.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

bladder and bowel issues such as being able to go just whenever anywhere stopped for me years ago. another MS trick i think as i've run into other MSers who have the same.

i'll keep on the barley tea/seed thing for awhile. seems healthy enough and tastes ok too.

I have chronic constipation.  I drink a six glass of prune juice with breakfast.  If nothing moves again at noon.  If nothing moves again before bed.  I rarely need the one before bed.  I think it is caused from my muscles not receiving the message that it's timeeeeeeeeeeee!  Anyway, that works for me.
