I just saw my MS dr yesterday and I am going to wait two weeks and if the hives continue, i can start the copaxone
If they do not, i will go on Tysabri...
Yes, Lu, i am so tired of them !!
hugs, neg
Hi Meg,
sorry I've been scarce and am just now seeing this. Have the hives resolved since you stopped taking the copax? It stinks that this problem has continued - you've had those darn hives for way too long.
take care, Lulu
Hey, Meg - I use Betaseron now. It's an interferon which lowers the immune system activity. They want you to get a blood test every six months. The minuses include flu-like reactions and a weak immune system, so they recommend staying away from sick people.
Meg, are you hiveless now 9 days out?
I was just wondering what you are using now in place of the copaxone?
thanx, meg
Thats interesting, I was wondering if I could take it less than once a day. I really need to talk to my MS dr..i made an appt for the 13th.
I have been off of it for 9 days now and still not sure what to do. I never minded the large welts, but i almost convinced it is causing my hives.
meg
I'm on it, but don't take it everyday as it causes large red raised welts, and insomnia...I'm one of the lucky 10% that gets insomnia from it. lol But my doc is ok with me having it every few days because it's better than not being on anything.
Hey, Meg - what sort of problems are you having with Copaxone?
I had the site reactions, which were red, raised welts (about three inches in diameter) that itched for three days. I also had the IPIR, which is an immediate post-injection reaction. After the fifth one, it began to resemble an allergic reaction (itching and swelling) so I discontinued it.
But as far as I know, Copaxone doesn't cause any other reactions.
I was on copaxone from November 09 till this past July. I was lucky I guess since I didn't have any allergy problems with it. The reason I stopped taking it was the medicine wasn't doing any good for me. Then I started Tysabri, not sure if it's going to do any better, but it's supposed to be the best medicine available. I sure as heck don't miss having the welps or knots on my thights from the Copaxone shots.
I hope you can find something that helps you without any problems on the side.
Chad
