weird feeling in mouth

wondering if anyone has had this feeling...

the underside of my tounge is numb and the whole inside of my mouth, especially the inside of my lips feels raw, like all of the skin is off and they feel a little swollen.  also when i eat, everything just tastes hot...my mouth feels like someone rubbed vics vapo rub all over the inside.  it has been like this for 4 days now.  i also have a very dry mouth.  anyone relate...do you think this is a neuro problem.  i do not have any allergies.

thank you so much for replying.  i have read about burning mouth syndrome, but i do not have much pain...only when i eat.  i feel like all the skin inside my mouth has sloughed off and my lips are sticking to my teeth.  i also can not pucker up-can not whistle, drink from a straw, etc.  it is really getting annoying...is there anything i can do.  my doctor can not see me for weeks since it is not a "serious" problem.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Your symptoms are characteristic of burning mouth syndrome which can occur due to many causes like dry mouth, yeast infections, nutritional deficiencies, dentures, nerve damage, acid reflux and menopause.
B vitamins, saliva replacement products, medications like clonazepam and capsaicin have been found to be very effective.

Please consult your physician about it. Take care!
