Cavernous malformation

Are cavernous malformations brain tumors?  I have been diagnosed with having 10-12 throughout my brain, with one 2cm one in my brain stem(pons region).  Three have shown evidence of bleeding in the past couple of months(including brain stem).   I'm so confused about my prognosis and future, that I'm feeling terribly anxious and depressed.  My right arm and leg were experiencing deficits, but have improved...but I'm now experiencing some headaches and neck pain...what can I do?  What medications work for this, and am I a "walking time bomb" because of all of these things in my brain???  I need some answers...thanks

Hi, just read your post. I have a Large DVA I was born with that grew right thru my Brainstem & a 5mm Cavernous Malformation in my Brainstem also.
I know the DVA that is like an AVM, some people don't know the term DVA, could kill me if it breaks in my Brainstem,  but was wondering if anyone knows how dangerous a Cavernous Malformation of 5 mm is in the Brainstem? I have pulling on one side of my head and nauseated really bad. I also have right arm pain & neck pain. So yes my question is how dangerous is the 5 mm Cavernous Malformation in my Brainstem? Anyone with any kind of an answer I would greatly appreciate.

I wish I had something great to tell you , I can only comment that I too have a cavernous malformation and it sucks hard. I had a seizure and woke up in the ER. I'm not OK with operating on the damned thing so I'm going to "watch and wait". The doctor told me that they are not tumors and never contain cancer cells, unless you already have brain cancer and I do not. Did your doctor also tell you no sex? Also, do you know how long it takes a bleed to stop? I know the brain is the slowest healing organ in the body...Great. I have been in a terrible mood for the last week since prognosis. They say on the web that no ones ever died of cavernous angiomas, but I know the symptoms can get terrible. It's the symptoms that drive people to surgery.

Best of luck with a quick recovery and no more bleeds!
