Complicated migraine

I have been suffering for months now with what was labled a complicated migraine.  At the onset of each attack my vision is always affected, everything gets really bright, my lips get numb and tingly, my speech becomes slured I feel light headed and dizzy, cold clamy and nausated.  Sometimes my thinking process is slowed or delayed and often I have short memory lapses.  If I didnt know better sometimes it feels like I am intoxicated.  These attacks are becoming more and more frequent.  In the beginning I had no headache whatsoever so I couldnt understand the diagnoses of migraine, but now there is a slight headache before and sometimes after.  I feel like I am losing my mind.  I want more information on this, and I guess my question is this Is there any medications or any type of treatment for these migraines??

Sarah,
One of the supplements that can reduce migraine is magnesium.

So just what is the magnesium migraines connection?

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Triptans are generally not used for treatment of complicated migraines. Medications like NSAIDS, barbiturates have been found to benefit patients with complicated migraine. The gold standard of treatment however remains identification and avoidance of trigger. Please maintain a headache diary as this will help you identify the triggers. Avoid caffeine and red wine.
Take care!
