I am now 15 and my migraines are coming back. I went to a neurologist last year and they did tests and said everything looked fine. They prescribed me to a medicine that i was on when i first started getting migraines. I am still on the medication and my doctor raised the amount i was taking I've been taking this amount for a few months and it was working. Now, the migraines are coming back in the same spots as before. Is this normal or should i ask my doctor to do an MRI(this was one of the few tests they didn't do before)
Hi
I can understand that you must be having difficult times experiencing these headaches.
Treatment is there for both the prevention as well as abortion of an attack of migraine. Paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs), triptans, ergot alkaloids and anti-emetics are used for treatment of migraine. Topamax (topiramate) is indicated in adults for the prophylaxis of migraine attacks. Hormone therapy may help some women whose migraines seem to be linked to their menstrual cycle.
In the meanwhile, you may try some stress management strategies, such as exercise, relaxation, and biofeedback to reduce the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks.
In my opinion, your doctor would be able to prescribe the medication which he feels would suit you best.
Take care!
