Constant stabbing pain entire left side

Hello! I have been having a "headache" 24/7 since Sept. 1, 2008. My symptoms include: Stabbing, sharp pains at the lower back of my head and neck on the left side, pain in my temple, behind my ear, and some days even my jaw. The pain is always on the left side from waking up to going to sleep. I have been taking 800 mg ibuprofen just for relief to get through the day. What could this be? And is it very serious that I should seek medical attention asap?

PMH: I've always had headaches since I was a young child that would come and go and I use to have nose bleeds often. When I was about 10 or 11 I fell off monkey bars and the back of my head landed on the iron step. I have a permanent "knot" that is about the size of a nickel and it doesn't grow hair there. I never received medical attention after that fall.

If it is your sinus', have the surgery... I had one in 1992 it was VERY painfull. But just had another one in 2006. They've come a long way. It was a peace of cake this time. I was out of work three days. I did it on a Wednesday and had the weekend. Went back to work on Monday. Never needed pain pills.

Do you grind your teeth? If you had/have TMJ you should have a mouth guard to wear at night. Grinding your teeth could also be give you head aches.

Thanks for the comment! I use to have TMJ so my dentist said that when I got braces it would correct the problem and it did. I hope that it is a sinus issue...

You could possibly have TMJ or sinus issues. I have had two sinus surgeries and I have TMJ.
