Do lesions show on a MRI If you have peripheral neuropathy

I have been told that I have MS, my MRI shows many lesions in my white matter and some other places in my brain, I have also 2 dead spots in my brain,  my C spin has a very large lesion around C5, but I also have some bad decks between c3 and c5. However my only symptoms seem to fit Peripheral Neuropathy to a tee. I'm 53 almost and my hormons are doing a dance of hell on me... I was to 5 missed periods and then I got one. But the weeks before I started my neupathy was hell. I had it from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. REALLY. It was even hard swallow. I have numness, tingling, senitivity to touch, muscle weakness, burning pain, muslel wasting in my leg cafe muscle. I also have great fatquie. The neuropathy started about 8 years ago in my left hand, in a week my whole left side was numb. Now however it's in mostly my whole body and bad as hell most of the time. But before my period is more then hell. Night without question is the worst of all. Buttoning, walking, balance, all hard I drop everything and fall more then I like. I have an underpoductive thyroid, of course a hormonal inbalance. I also have IBD, I have had mono, I have herpes, I have had shingles, and I show positive for the epstein-barr virus and my Tider (spelling?) is 650:1, but they say I don't have lupus. So my biggest question is does a person with peripheral neuopathy show lesions on their brain and spinal cord. and does it sound like I have MS with this or no MS???????? Please help if you can. PS because of the IBD showing inflammaton in my bowel, I would be guessing I would have chronic inflammaton, and I have inflamed and swollen joints on most of my fingers and one big toe. One more thing, I have shotting pain from my right hip down to my ankle.

I sound like I am nuts when I write it all, but it's all true, I just need the correct ansewer if there is one. Thanks!

Hi there. This sounds like typically multiple sclerosis.  White spots and T2 flair hyperintensities are suggestive of a demyelinating disorder called multiple sclerosis. Apart from clinical neurological examination MRI shows MS as paler areas of demyelination , two different episodes of demyelination separated by one month in at least two different brain location. Spinal tap is done and CSF electrophoresis reveals oligoclonal bands suggestive of immune activity, which is suggestive but not diagnostic of MS. Demyelinating neurons transmit nerve signals slower than non demyelinated ones and can be detected with EP tests. These are visual evoked potentials, brain stem auditory evoked response, and somatosensory evoked potential. slower nerve responses in any one of these is not confirmatory of MS but can be used to complement diagnosis along with a neurological examination, medical history and an MRI and a spinal tap. You also need to be ruled out for fibromyalgia since you have muscle wasting, calf pains and excessive painful response to touch. the swollen joints could be IBD related arthropathy.  Hope this helps. Take care.
