Fainting...for many years - and i want answers pleeease!

I am 21 now and i have been suffering from blackouts/fainting since i was about 14yrs old. At first i was told by my GP that it was hormonal, then that it was something called vagesvagrel syndrome (i think thats how it's spelt). However this last few month i'm still suffering and knew it couldn't still be hormonal, i've had an ECG test done and been told i have an ectopic heart beat but this is  not related to my fainting. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Sam

I have already had an ECG which showed i have an ectopic heartbeat which seemingly is not rare but my GP said this should not be causing my fainting.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. The various causes of syncope are central nervous system ischemia, vasovagal syncope may occur during urination, coughing etc, postural, cardiac syncope, neurological syncope, hypoglycemia, deglutition syncope associated with solids swallowing, cardiac includes cardiac arrhythmias, obstructive cardiac lesions, structural cardiopulmonary disease, sick sinus syndrome etc.  Various clinical tests like blood tests for hemoglobin, ECG, holter to record electrical activity of heart, tilt table test,  insertable cardiac monitor, etc would be required. Consult a cardiologist immediately for the needful assessment and management. Take care.

although i haven't been treated for fainting, i do see a wonderful doctor in toledo, ohio who is very in-tune with syncope. he and his associates are currently treating me for dysautonomia, but you may want to contact his office for advice. they are all so sweet there. his name is dr. blair grubb at the university of toledo medical center. he's in the cardiology department. there is also a support group for syncope; i think it's called "stars". maybe check these out, you may find some help. i wish you lots of luck.
