Twisted Carotid Artery

Can you tell me the symptoms of twisted arteries in the neck area.  I believe I have this problem.  For 30 years I been having the pinching feeling in my neck on and off.  Now that I'm older I been having this pressure in my neck with the same pinching feeling.   I now have pressure in my right ear.  I did see two ENT Doctors and both told me its not related to my ears.  I also have this balance problem for the last 10 years.  I do not have  vertigo.  I can also hear my heart beating in my right ear.  I noticed when I move my head to the right side down towards my right shoulder the pressure is gone but as soon as I put my head back up the pressure comes back.  My neck does not hurt just pressure and sometimes this pinching feeling.  My Carotid Artery does hurt if I touch it.  What do you think.

Thank you for your time.  I did make an appointment to see another ENT, Neuro. and Internist Dr.'s at the Cleveland Clinic.  Hopefully this can be resolved.

Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include postural issues, neuro-muscular causes such as muscle sprain, nerve impingement, injuries to muscles/ ligaments etc. inflammations, URT infections, inflammations, referred pain from other regions, micronutrient deficiencies etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an internist initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist acre may be sought.
