Healthy 3 months ago

I was healthy three months ago and now I cannot function in life. My first symdoms were rapid heart beat, dizziness, nausea and balance off. Then I developed severe headaches. The symdoms never really go away. All kinds of tests have been ran on me and nothing has been been found. I would like to meet with a neurologist but have not been able to get an appt. Now I cannot go to work and function in life. What to I do???????

Hi there

From the symptoms that you have mentioned, it appears tht you are suffering from labyrinthitis, which is a balance disorder. It is an inflammatory process affecting the labyrinths (in the ear) that contain the vestibular system. Symptoms include balance problems,  hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus, and anxiety leading to tremors, increased heart beats, and panic attacks. Labyrinthitis may be caused by a virus, bacterial infection, head injury, an allergy or as a reaction to a some medicine. For how long have you been having these symptoms? Recovery from an acute attack of labyrinthitis may take few weeks. However, if residual impairment persists, chronic symptoms may last for years. Treatment is basically aimed at controlling symptoms. Please visit your doctor, an ENT srgeon and a neurologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
