High blood presure and leg spasm

The other night I woke up and wen to he kitchen, as I was walking back to my bed my left leg started to shake, it then would not hold my weight, I went to the floor and the muscles started going crazy. My leg was moving all over the place. The next morning I went to the doctor. My blood presure was 223/140. The doctor has never seen somehing like this related to high blood presure, but said it may be a warning sign. It has happened a few times since but not as bad as the first time.
There was no pain or numbness. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am a bit concened

Yhanks

I found out what the problem is. I have focal seziers.(Sp). i just came home from the hospital. The doctor has me on Keppra now. He also suggested I change primary doctors because he dismissed me without trying to find out what was really wrong. He wanted to put me on ativan or zanix.
But I wanted to thank you for trying to help me

Thanks
Laura

Hi,

Is your BP under control?
To high or too low BP can cause these symptoms. Also make sure you are not dehydrated or electrolyte depleted. Maintain your fluid intake and drink plenty of fruit juices as they will help supplement potassium which is important for normal functioning of muscles.
Take care!

Hi thanks for responding. I went back to the doctor today and he did an MRI. It came back normal. This has happened a few times since. There are a couple of changes now. When it happens now, I can't move the leg at all. I still have feeling but I can't move the leg at all.I still has the spasms.
Still there is no pain or numbness.
I'm going back to the doctor again in the morning but this thing has the doctors baffled.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is possible that your symptom was due to high BP. Your BP was extremely high and could have caused a mini stroke which resulted in sudden weakness in the leg.
It is important to get further evaluation done to prevent stroke from recurring. Restrict salt intake completely and take medications to keep your BP under control.
