Severe pain scalp

I bear severe pain at the back of my head as if someone hit me with an iron rod real hard. It happens rarely, but is too severe. I have to take a high dosage of painkiller like brufen 500mg to get rid of it. Though one pain killer takes it off. I have long hair. I used to have it very frequently around 4 years ago and did not have any problems from the past 3-4 years. It suddenly started today itself. Last night I slept perfectly with a perfect peace of mind and i didn't wash my hair last night as well. I don't know what is the reason behind it. I don't have any kind of past injuries as per my knowledge.

Severe scalp pain at the back of the head is in all probability due to pinched cervical spinal nerves. When you have the intense pain, you can ask someone to massage your upper back and neck. Also after taking a pain killer you can do gentle neck exercises. The pain may be coming if you are doing something that strains your neck (doing fine work or working at computer etc). So, if you do such jobs, do simple neck exercises in between to remove the strain from neck.
