Tightness on the face and fore head

I have a Pressure/Tightness on the head for more than 12 years and this is in the head always (24/7). I always had difficulty in explaining the condition to the doctors. It is the feeling on the head like, after you remove a heavy hat after wearing for a long time. Or like the hangover from heavy drinking drinking or like had no sleep for couple days. It is around the head, mainly upper fore head, behind the head and right side of the face.  There is a feeling of tightness also on the muscle under and corner of the right side of the right eye.

From the beginning itself I had floaters in the eye, astigmatism (2 eyes have different power).  If I press on two sides behind my neck (Skull meets neck, 3 inches behind the years), I can feel the pain. This pain is more on the right side.

I had been to neurologist 2 years ago and had done CT scan, MRI of the brain and neck etc. No abnormalities were found. I have a feeling that is some nerve jammed somewhere sending this false message to the brain.

I don't think about it but always looking for an end to this feeling and have a 100% productive life as this has an impact on my work, career growth, attending meetings, memory, learning new stuff etc. Because of this pressure when attending meeting, I don’t feel I am there fully but half awake.

I just came across ‘occipital neuralgia’ and wanted to see if this something anyone is aware.  I have seen several people with my symptoms in the Headache board.

Thanks for reading this.

Regards

Tom

Hej Top. I have the same problem you are having now. I have this for almost 7 years. I have done everything , every kind of medication. I have been to many neurologists. Last time i was given anti-depression medicine which makes my condition worst . I live in Denmark. I have no idea what to do ? I am just 26 years old. Please share with me if you get any kind of treatment of this.

Hi,

It will help us to know if the possibility of sinusitis and chronic daily tension headache and cluster headache was looked into or not.
Occipital neuralgia is a term used to describe pain originating from the base of skull to the front and side of the head. Other symptoms include tender hypersensitive scalp and pain and pressure behind the eyes and eyes are sensitive to light.
This is definitely a possibility in your case however nothing can be said for sure without a clinical exam. Please schedule an appointment with a headache specialist and keep us posted.

Hi Tom...may I ask...do u have the report of the Brain MRI?.....I wonder because sometimes certain conditions are missed or reported as incidential on the report and the dr does not tell the patient.
If u do not have this report or copies of the MRI u can go to the location it was done and request it.

A review never hurts....and since it is 2 yrs another MRI might be in order since it is an ongoing condition.

Good luck
Godspeed
