Unexplained symptoms

Hi i am a 27 year old female with very wierd symptoms that no doctor can help me with. I started with chronic ear infections when i was young. Because of these ear infections i developed cholesteatoma, a benign tumor or the ear. I have had 3 removed. I have always had skull pain, thats how the tumor was found the first time. I am constantly getting inner ear infections. Antibiotics work then soon after i get another infection. Now my eyes are always bloodshot, i have pressure behind my eyes, the bones where my temples are are tender to touch, and the side of my head has a tender spot also. I have nausea also and just dont feel good. The other day the sclera of my right eye swelled up. I don't know what to do? Is this a neuro problem or what is it? does anyone have suggestions. I have been to so many doctors. they all say take some antibiotics and rest. It does not work.

Hi,
Your symptoms could be related to an eye problem. It could be uveitis, an inflammation involving the pigmented areas in the eyes, Glaucoma, cluster headaches, optic neuritis or any other condition. Please consult an eye specialist first for a complete eye examination and a CT scan to determine the cause. If the eye problems are ruled out, please consult a neurologist and go for an MRI of the brain to check whether there is a pathology in the brain. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

Could be you have some more of those little ear tumors.  I would go see an ear nose throat ENT doc, have him take a look at you and decide if he needs to do a CAT scan to see what's going on in your head around your eyes and ears.  Do not let him just give you antibiotics and send you on your way... even if it was just an ongoing infection, I think to keep having them constantly, plus your painful symptoms, and your eye symptoms, this all suggests you need a scan, to look for possibly more tumors.

By the way, whenever you finish up a round of antibiotics, drink some Acidophilus milk for about a week, it will help restore the normal "good" bacteria in the body that helps fight off the "bad" bacteria.  See, the antibiotics kills ALL the bacteria.  This process is thought to be one of the reasons people get repeat infections, just in case it turns out you do just have a stubborn infection, altho I personally don't think so.

Now, if you've been to an ENT but have not had a scan, then go to a new ENT and if he doesn't suggest a scan, you can ask him about it.  If you have had a scan already, then I would go to an opthalmologist or eye doctor, and let him examine your eyes, tell him your whole story, and maybe he can figure out how come your eyes are now involved with this, as a secondary problem to another disorder in nearby structures to the eye.
