White Spots on Brain

I recently had a MRI done of the brain due to the fact that I have been having numbness on my arm and hand from a work injury with positional numbness.  I had a negative shoulder MRI and Cervical MRI and a negative EMG.

The MRI that was performed found that I have several small foci of T2 prolongation scattered thoughtout the subcortical and deep white matter.   This includes a 5mm focus of T2 prolongation in the deep white matter of the left frontal lobe, series 7, image 17, and small subcortical foci in the right upper lobe on series 7, images 23 and 22.  The sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear.

Also demyelinating disorder could be considered in the correct clinical setting.

Hi.

I think you can go in for the testing. There is no problem going in for an LP. Take appropriate care.

Even if this looks a small symptom, it is better to get it investigated.

When are you going for LP ?

Hello,

Thank you for your response.  No I am not having any other symptons except for the numbing in the arm and hand.  This has been an issue since November.  I have seen a neurosurgeon which is quick to order a myleogram and a spinal tap.  He wants to rule out MS.  As well as try to find the problem.

I feel this is not MS for I do not have any other symptoms.  Is there anything else that is less invasive of a procedure.  Do you think this is warrented?

Hello.

If the MRI was done because you had work related injuries and no prior symptoms, the findings on the MRI may be clinically insignificant. It is normal to have T2 foci on MRI in the white matter, not in all people, though.

I am sure you have taken treatment for the injury. Please wait for a few days to watch the symptoms. Do you have any other symptoms ?

Regards
