Hello.
"If it has a bone, it can break!"
I hope you have visited the orthopedic surgeon. Little toe has small bones. There could be a dislocation, if not a fracture. You should keep your foot elevated (keeping pillows below the foot when sleeping) to reduce the swelling. The swelling makes it difficult to manipulate the toe, or even to examine.
An x-ray of the foot will be required.
You should not wait for it to improve on its own.

hi,
i am no doctor, but about a year ago, i slammed my small toe into a computer in the middle of the night. it immediately appeared to be at a right angle with the other toes. talk about pain. being without insurance or work, i reduced it on my own, but the pain was outrageous for about 2 months. i kept it taped straight with the one toe next to it for another 2 months and the walking was very painful, and putting shoes on was not an option. sandals was the only way to go. slowly but surely, i started noticing improvement and now it's like it never happened. (1 year later) i met another woman on the beach one day and she noticed my limping and taped foot, and told me she did the same thing years ago, and it took about 5 months to feel better again. she didn't get x-rays either, just let nature take it's course. this is in no way a diagnosis or medical recommendation, just wanted to share what a broken little toe feels like and the slow recovery it has in it's own. good luck!
