I am a 21 year old male with no history of serious medical problems. This past summer (July) I had a cold that lasted about a week. I should also mention that at this time I was under a good deal of stress as I had just started a new job in a new city. After I recovered from the cold, I started having severe brain fog. I felt disconnected, had trouble concentrating, solving problems, and finding the right words. Shortly after, I developed other symptoms including eye twitching, fatigue, cold hands/ feet, rubbery feeling hands/ feet, slight balance issues, and changes in bowel movements. I have been checked out by a neurologist, endocrinologist, and internist, none of whom could find anything wrong. I did have an MRI done on a 1.5T closed machine approximately 4 weeks after the brain fog started, which showed nothing significant, other than enlarged ventricles. The endocrinologist suggested I might have contracted encephalitis when I had the cold, though the MRI didn't show any swelling in the brain. Before and after having the MRI done, I had extensive blood tests done which showed nothing abnormal (not sure if any hormone testing was done). The internist also called for some test to see if any viruses were present in my body. This test came back negative, indicating no viruses were present. All doctors assured me that within a few months, the symptoms would go away. Six months later, all symptoms are still present. I have tried a gluten free diet which did not seem to help. Any information on my symptoms would be appreciated!
