Thanks for your help...he had another mri a few days ago and we should be getting the results today. his symptoms are so similar to ms, that is what we thought at first but the spinal tap he had done said it wasn't that. i think i will send him to an endorcrinologist. thanks again
There has to be a reason for his thyroid levels to be low, so that should be followed and tracked down carefully. That can indeed be doing this. And of course the lesion is no help, either, and in fact makes me think of MS. I CAN tell you one minor reason that your husband has his symptoms, aside from those two, and that has to do with some nutritional deficiency. Why he would have that, I don't know. Sometimes it's to do with food, sometimes it's to do with how his body breaks down food, like a gastro-type problem. So, just in case, altho I imagine SOMEbody has done bloodwork, he might want to take a name-brand complex vitamin/mineral supplement, but just twice a week and with a meal. He also should drink at least six glasses of water a day.
Other things that bloodwork would have revealed is his sugar levels, because unchecked diabetes can cause that prickly sensation on the skin, and also would have shown where his white blood cell counts are, because if they're low, that means he would have some sort of bacterial infection in his body.
When they do the MRI of his head, it may be wise to request they include the neck, for a head and neck MRI. See, his thyroid acting up and the lesion in his brain may be somehow interconnected. I hope he is seeing an endocrinologist for his thyroid situation. If not, he SHOULD be. And I'm SO sorry to hear your husband is so very ill. Gosh, I know what that's like, my husband had colon cancer when he was 39 years old, and the docs said he was WAAAAAY out of the norm for that. He survived, then I got cancer too, and I survived, and I'm telling you, we are stuck like glue to each other, hanging hard for dear life, because family is the most important thing in life... well, that and a good dog. Smile. Let us know how things go, and hopefully someone else here will respond to you, too. They may have beeen thru a similar experience as your husband.
