meningoma or not

HI i have recently had a mri scan on my brain after a multple of symptoms, when i went to my neuroligist he explained what he thinks the finding were on my scan they were as follows, the findings represent either abnormal blood vessels or remotely a benign growth from the coverings of the brain (meningioma). I dont quite understand for one i dont no what abnormal blood vessels could represent and i dont no what remotely a benign growth means could any one tell me what these finding could mean Thanks

Thank you so much for your reply this has helped me understand a little bit more, but could you tell me what the word remotely means has this has me a little confused, and also the finding of this abnormality is in the left posterior temple lobe is this a place to be commen for a meningma. Thanks so much

Hello Dear,

MRI can demonstrate tumor vascularity, arterial encasement, venous sinus invasion, and the relationship between the tumor and surrounding structures. Meningiomas have a collar of thickened, enhancing tissue that surrounds their dural attachment; this is also known as a dural tail. This sign represents thickened dura which may be either reactive or neoplastic. A dural tail occurs in approximately 65% of meningiomas and 15% of other peripheral tumors; therefore, it is a good predictor of lesion identity. While this radiographic feature is not specific for meningiomas, it is highly suggestive of the diagnosis.
