I'd bet a million dollars there's nothing wrong with your nervous system; I've had trouble sleeping on and off for years and those are exactly the sensations I get; feels like a electrical spasm shooting thru my leg, arm, whatever. Maybe have a sleep test done; it's no big deal.

Haha I'm a HUGE procrastinator...most other students aren't as bad as me! The school I'm at has a good amount of Indian students (directly from India--their first time in the USA was when they came here for school in September 2008!) in the graduate programs--they're all very diligent and smart workers.

Thanks--good luck on your exam, too! You still have plenty of time to study...lucky!

engg = engineering? What is your major?

I know the feeling...I have an exam from 6pm - 9pm tonight (I slept a grand total of 3 hours in the last 3 days, and didn't sleep last night), then I have another exam tomorrow from 6 - 9pm I haven't started studying for yet, and I had one yesterday at 9am. I'm a grad student, so I didn't have much time to prepare for these, and I honestly don't know how I'm going to have time to study for tomorrow's exam tonight AND get the sleep I so desperately need!

Ah, well, I'll worry about that later. I just need to stay awake now. Crunch time! Good luck on your exams!

Sounds a lot like anxiety, and probably a result of traumatizing/stressing your nerves. This could also be related to poor nutrition.

Basically, not sleeping much or having a very erratic sleep schedule wreaks havoc on your body. Researchers haven't actually been able to determine whether or not your body can recuperate from extended periods of time like this--not sleeping or being on a normal circadian rhythm. Preliminary research has shown that it's not good, though, and you're much more prone to causing damage to your body that you'll never be able to fix, or that you won't realize until later on in life.

I can say all of that because sometimes I sleep less than 4 hours a night. In fact, I didn't sleep last night. Ironically, I was always fairly healthy until my sleeping patterns went awry a few years ago...now, they can't figure out what's wrong with me! I do have problems with my pineal gland (which regulates sleep/wakefulness cycles), but I'm not sure which came first--the chicken or the egg. I like to think my poor sleep schedule is a result of my medical problems, but it could very well be the other way around. =( I almost wish I had slept more regularly when I had the chance, so I'd never become sick.

Feel better soon!
