lowering protein and increasing fat

Hey everybody...

I currently eat a diet comprised of 30-35% protein, 45-50% carbs, and less than 20% fats. All toll, I consumer 2,800 calories a day to maintain my current weight of 108 lbs. at 5'4" (I've always been on the thin side, I'm a competitive Irish Dancer and Distance Runner).

I want to start eating more fats and less protein... because it's very difficult to eat THAT much protein on a daily basis! I would love to expiriement with a diet made up of 25% fat, 25% protein, and 50% carbs, although, I fear it will make me gain weight, which I am not looking to do.

Some sources have stated that it's a matter of total calories, while others have emphasized high protein diets increasing the metabolism. I don't want to start gaining weight, but am curiouse as to what would come of redistributing my macronutrients?

If anybody has ANY advice/expirience/thoughts, or even comments on this matter, I would greatly appreciate them! Thank you for your time, and take care :)

additional information: as for your redistribution of these macronutrients, you have to be very careful in doing so. Since any amount that go over or go beyond the normal range causes certain adverse reactions inside our body. for example: you wanted to consume more fats and less protein, that action will lead to ketosis (due to excessive intake of fats) and weakened immune system (due to low intake of protein since protein is a major component of our body's defenses). on the other hand, high protein diet also has its negative side, it can result to kidney troubles and accumulation of ammonia and other substances that are harmful in our body. the real secret here is BALANCE DIET. NOTHING IN EXCESS because too much of something (even if it's good) is still bad. try to see a nutritionist or dietitian for your diet diet counseling.

actually, the normal diet comprises: 50-70% carbohydrates, 10-15% protein and 20-25% fats. if you want to maintain your weight you have to make sure that you can always achieve a balanced energy everyday. it means that your energy input should always be equal to energy output (input=output). to do that, you have to consume your 2800 calories everyday. energy input means any item containing calories which you take in and energy output means your energy consumption. try to search on line for energy consumption of physical activities. remember: excess/ unused calories would mean stored energy which may lead to stored fat and obviously you will gain weight.
