Healthy weight gain

I'm 15, 5'7" and weigh 135 pounds. I wish to reach 145 pounds over the course of about 15 to 20 weeks. I usually work out 5-6 days a week, but I don't go to a gym so it's usually more of an endurance based workout. This app told me that I should consume about 2,500 daily to reach my goal, but as of today (I've not eaten dinner yet) ive only reached 1000 (minus about 500 from excercise) calories. I ate a lot more than usual today too. Is this right? Should I really be eating that much to gain the weight? Some advice would really be appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't state that very elegantly, did I?  I meant gaining weight in muscle is better than gaining it in fat -- or in feathers, for that matter.

Pax, "muscle is heavier than fat" Come on pax! I'll make it easy for you a pound of feathers and a pound of steel weigh the same!! Muscle is not heavier than fat!! It's more dense!!

When I said switch off, I meant alternate -- don't give up the aerobics.

I think you've hit part of the problem by not going to the gym.  Weight training builds muscle, which is heavier than fat and fills you out without just eating more and gaining fat.  You do have to increase your food intake so you don't burn everything off, but remember, less weight as long as you have the proper nutrients may not be your ideal look but it is healthier.  But if you must be heavier, switch off the aerobics with weight training.

Same issue here -- trying to gain weight, but finding it hard to fill the calorie target.  Strange problem to have, but geesh! It doesn't feel right to binge either. I guess being content and healthy goes a long way after all... because at my rate, Ill either maintain my skinny frame or lose by not hitting my target! >_<

In order to gain weight, you have to consume more calories (per day) than what your are burning. Thats why the calorie count on this app is really handy to help you know exactly where your up too. You can also buy a device ( so sorry I don't know what its called exactly) that you can wear around your wrist or body somewhere, & it tells you exactly how many calories you are burning & much more. So take a good look at your exercise & calorie intake to see how many calories you should be consuming. Depending on your weight/BMI, 2500+cal sounds about right :)
