Carbonated mineral water with a bit of fresh fruit (lemon, lime, orange) makes the transition much easier. When I grew tired of buying mineral water, I used the Soda Stream to make my own fizzy water. If you're really attached to the flavor of sodas, you might consider using a few drops of flavored Stevia. It comes in root beer, cream soda, and other flavors.

I have a friend who weaned off by filling the glass w ice first & then using smaller glasses. Also Izze & other natural sodas are great alternatives for when you HAVE to have one. I think GTs kombucha is also a great alternative if you want to cut cold turkey. The fizz gives it a soda feel but I recommend starting w Gingerade as it tastes so much like ginger ale. Once you've gotten used to the flavor, you'll love the others. GOOD LUCK!
I'm a huuuuge soda drinker & am also trying to stop now. I've been making sure I have bottled water in my house at all times and forcing myself to drink only that and fruit teas. Not 100% effective as I'm still craving. Let me know if you hear any better tips? Good Luck!
