i crave gasoline

i've always loved the smell of gasoline, leather, moth balls, skunk....just really strange things.  about 6 months ago i started ingesting very small amounts of gasoline and although it burns my mouth and throught i havent been able to stop.  Please, what are the health effects?

Uhm, don't do that.  Gasoline and continued contact with that can cause cancer.  Not to mention, I'd guess that gasoline can eat through the lining of your stomach.

I think you should see your Doctor.

I used to crave white spirit/turpentine/petrol during each of my 4 pregnancies.

The condition is called 'Pica'.

I didn't see my doc as I didn't ever go as far as ingesting anything I was just inhaling it - I say 'just' - that was bad enough seeing as I was pregnant. My husband threw all the things out I wanted to sniff and couldn't take me into a DIY or hardware store as I would be sniffing the stuff in there too.

It generally means you are missing something in your diet - your doctor might be able to prescribe a supplement or something to make the craving go away.

In the mean time, really try to stop ingesting it as I'm pretty sure that will cause untold damage. :0/
