Abnormal tibia?

I have always noticed how my tibia bones are prone to serious injuries when coming into contact with almost any object. I thought it is normal till some friend recently remarked how sharp my tibia bone is. Unlike their tibias, the sharp edge sticks out and there is no muscle padding to shield it from injuries when coming into contact with objects.
The everyday coffee table incidents and usual soccer hits turn into excrutiating pain for me since contact is made on the almost razor sharp edge of the tibia. Is this normal? Is there any way I can deal with it? I don't know if this is related or not but I have always had rather skinny calf muscles which might explain the absence of muscle covering the tibia. One more thing, I am a long distance runner.

Thank you for your help.

You have to increase the muscle strength in your legs and along with your long distance running do some strength exercises. With the muscle mass increasing you will have less pain with these freak incidents. It is always good to avoid being hit to tables etc for your safery and also i do no think there is any abnormality in your legs. Visit an orthopaedician for a simple  X-ray and to know  more about your shins. Take care!
