Broken 4th metacarpal - rehab

I broke the 4th metacarpal of my left hand in two places playing rugby 5 weeks ago. I had surgery, a pin was inserted and casted for 4 weeks.
The cast enclosed my 3rd-5th fingers and went to the elbow (it was excessive).
The cast and pin were removed this week but I was not given any information on rehabilitation.
I have been able to begin moving my middle finger but cannot completely close or fully open my hand and the ring and pinky fingers are barely moving. My wrist is also rather sore from being held in the same position for a month and I have lost some forearm girth.
All expected effects but I am wondering what kind of exercise I could be doing to help along the process?
Also, my surgeon did not do another r x-ray following cast removal, which I thought they would do to ensure proper healing, is this not the case? Or should I see my local hospital to have this done?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Get an X-ray done and let it be analyzed by an expert.

With healing process completed you would need active physiotherapy to relieve you of any stiffness.

You can start slowly by exercising your fingers at your wrist joint.  There would be pain and inflammation initially and slowly with pain killers and ice packs you will be fine.

Take care!
