Crushing pain, only stops with pain med

I am 2 weeks, 3 days post ORIF ankle surgery and my doctor removed staples (pin to tibia, screws and plates to
fibula)  and gave me go ahead for P.T.

Question?   Does this "crushing pain" in the middle (I think the mortisse or the syndesmosis)  mean that
the WHOLE ankle is healing.    I was hoping to be off the narcotics completely by this time...but as
it turns out I'm still taking 3-4   ....5 milligram each tabs daily, along with the X strength Tylenol,
I showered the foot yesterday, which seemed to help.   Something tells me I should start careful deep massage
....I probably won't see the physical therapist for another week,,,,given they are all far overbooked.
PLEASE HELP!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

You will sure have lot of pain when you start weight bearing and during initial physiotherapy.

Talk with your orthopaedic or foot surgeon to make sure that your healing is complete and get a prescription to properly cover you for a week during initial physiotherapy.

If healing is complete then your pain will decrease with physiotherapy.

Take care!
