35 year old male, healthy and in shape, not overweight. No known health issues or diseases. There are days when I have more trouble walking and everything just feels uncomfortable and like I can't walk properly. Some days aren't as bad. My feet point outwards (toe-out), but the left a lot more than the right. I'm not sure if it is the knee, leg bones or ankles. If I force both feet parallel, I feel a lot of pressure in my knees and leg bones on both legs (sort of like pressure built up in a spring). Some days if I'm tired, my knees hurt more, pop a lot, etc. Sometimes even when I walk, it isn't consistent. My gait changes and does different stuff with different steps for some reason. I feel like I'll fall over if I stand up completely straight and try to walk straight, so there may be a balance issue because of whatever this is. Some days I feel as if someone is pressing on the leg bone and it hurts/feels sore around the shin areas in particular. I tend to put the outer edges of my feet down first before the inner edges when walking. If I jog/run, I'll sometimes get sharp stabbing pains in my left knee or my leg bones get stabbing pains in them. I feel like I sprain my ankle(s) sometimes trying to walk properly. My knee points inward and from the knee up the top half of the leg looks offset and further in from the rest of the leg below the knee.
What bothers me most is my gait in general. Not only is it painful and feels uncomfortable, but people stare at me like they're wondering why my left foot points outward more when I walk and I "walk funny" in general. As I have become really self-conscious about this, I have noticed that a lot of people at work toe-out like that but don't seem to have the pain and discomfort with walking that I do. What could cause this? It seems like it gets worse as I get older.
