I ended up going through with the MRI because after almost 3 weeks the swelling was still very bad, and although the pain had gone down it got to a certain point and then it just stayed the same. I got the results today, and I've got 2 chips on either side of the ankle, partially torn ligaments, and stretched ligaments along with a swollen and strained Achilles tendon, and internal swelling (not sure what that means, but the dr said it was an issue). He said nothing is permanent and it will all get better over time, but he wants me on crutches and in a boot for two weeks. I guess lack of pain does not always mean everything is okay.
Hi there!
I am not sure on this one either. A repeat MRI may be advised if the injury on the original MRI has been extensive or a physical examination reveals incomplete healing. I would suggest discussing this with your treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.
Take care!
