Thanks for your reply. It is now 4 weeks since I had my replacement hip fitted. When the stitches were taken out 2 weeks after op, the wound became very red and hot. My GP gave me a week's supply of Co-Amoxiclay 250/125 tablets. This appeared to clear the symptons up and I felt quite well again. However, 4 Days after finishing them I started to get the pain back at the top of my leg and the wound felt hot again. I had a slow walk yesterday and when I got home the wound started to be painful again and became red. I am at the end of my tether with this. I thought that when I had the hip replacement, I would get over it quickly and back to normal life, but alas.
Many Thanks
Hello Dear,
MRSA infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria — often called "staph." MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It's a strain of staph that's resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. MRSA can be fatal
Staph skin infections, including MRSA, generally start as small red bumps that resemble pimples, boils or spider bites. These can quickly turn into deep, painful abscesses that require surgical draining. Sometimes the bacteria remain confined to the skin. But they can also penetrate into the body, causing potentially life-threatening infections in bones, joints, surgical wounds, the bloodstream, heart valves and lungs.
