cj in my experiance with this surgery it is only 50% sucess the injection work better
You are not alone....DeQuervain's is the most likely. I have it and wow its not funny. After 2 months of physical therapy without success. Wearing the firm ridgid thumb/wrist splint for 2 months also with little relieft, My Doc is now going to do the surgery. I refused the cortizone injection due to its poor success rate..I wish you luck.
Thank you for the response. I do seem to have the tenosynovitis at the base of thumb. And as usarmymedic1 points out, it has all the symptoms of De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I will, as you suggested, take anti inflammatory drugs and use a thumb splint. Thanks!
Thank you very much for the response. I did a quick reading about the De Quervain's tenosynovitis and it does seem like that is what I am having now. Especially because one of the symptoms described for that condition is that, when I try to do the "Finklestein maneuver", it hurts in the wrist at the base of thumb.
I will consult a doctor in regards to getting a Cortisone injection.
Thanks!
Hi, are you involved with computer work, where you have to hit regularly on "space" key? This could be arthritis, synovitis, tendonitis or tenosynovitis which means inflammation of tendons along with synovial sheath.
Please get X ray wrist, blood ESR, RF, done to rule out bony diseases. Try splint at wrist joint for couple of weeks and take anti inflammatory drugs along with hot compression. In case no response is seen, do consult orthopedician.
it sounds like Dequivains tenosynovitis inflamation at the first doral compartment of the wrist.
I'm experiencing the same kind of pain in the same area of my wrist. It doesn't hurt right off, but if I jerk it, flex it too far, or shake someone's hand wrong, the pain is very sharp and acute. It also hurts a lot when I'm pushing away from my body, like if i'm bench pressing or doing push-ups. Wonder why?
