Hi,
I am new to this forum, so hello everyone. What I´d like your opinions on is this: I am considering having my bunions removed. I am 55 yrs. old and they seem to be getting worse, on my left foot, the big toe is pushing the second one up and after standing for an hour or two, my second toe hurts, as does the ball of my foot, to those who have had the op. any regrets ???? I am a bit wary of the recup. time, I still work full time which involves a lot of travel. I have heard you have to prepare your self for an 8 week recuperation ? Could one fly during that time ? And, can you walk at all during that time,
I would appreciate any comments,
Keep well,
Hi Jennifer! How are you feeling now? I'm 4 weeks post op bunion surgery and was wondering how you are doing? I cant wait to exercise again and had a few questions for you.
The flesh right below my toes ache at times still swollen and my leg and foot is slightly darker then the other side. Especially since I have 4 children and have to clean, cook etc... Is this normal and did it happen to you? I had the bone broken, shaved then two screws put in place. I can move my toes and have walked in a boot since the operation. The sensitivity and numbness is almost gone. My main concern is when did you start walking again normally and wear regular shoes? I too had the pain you were describing and figured out I had the bandage wrapped too tightly.
Hope you are doing well.
Amy
Thanks for your response. I don't think it's the shoe. I think maybe I had the toes wrapped too tight in the ace bandage that my doctor's office told me to use. I also have a spacer between my big toe and the second toe, and I think maybe the combination was causing pain to my toes.
Hello Dear,
The orthowedge healing shoe may be causing pain .
The complications of bunionectomy can include infection, a recurrence of the bunion, damage to the nerves, and continued long term pain. You should consult your orthopedic surgeon and go in for investigations to rule out any other pathology. No diagnosis can be made unless investigations are done.
